HEIRLOOM PEARS

OUR COLLECTION

THE FRUIT

At Warrandyte Orchard, we produce three varietals of pear, with each being suited to a range of uses for your enjoyment. Learn more about Buerre Bosc, Packham and Williams pears below.

Pear

Buerre Bosc

Pear Buerre Bosc (Pyrus communis) is an heirloom variety that produces large delicious cinnamon brown fruit with a yellowish white juicy flesh. An excellent variety for cooking with, this mid season maturing pear develops more sweetness and flavour after harvesting.

Pear Tree

Packham

The Packham (Pyrus communis 'Packham's Triumph') is an Australian heirloom pear with light green skin that turns pale yellow when ripe, indicating it's time to sink your teeth into the juicy sweet white flesh. Ideal for juicing, preserving and eating fresh.

Williams

The Williams, also known as the ‘Bartlett’ or ‘Bon Chretien’, is a medium to large pear, juicy and sweet. It's origins are European and the trees tend to be heavier producers, with the fruit ideal for juicing, preserving and eating fresh.

THE ORCHARD

The orchard sits on a hillside amongst lush green paddocks in Warrandyte South. It's over an acre in size, home to 100 pear trees along with several citrus, olive and stone fruit trees.
